Down-the-line.com/Fencing. Former Minister of Sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov expressed his opinion on the initiative of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation regarding the proposal to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. Ukraine claims that Russia and Belarus, as well as the International Fencing Federation, do not follow the recommended rules for inviting athletes to tournaments.

“I would recommend the Ukrainian Federation to focus on developing their favorite sport. I hope there will still be reasonable people who will separate sports from politics and resume their main activities. Further discussions are meaningless, because there are already too many political issues in sport that have nothing to do with sport.

I am sure that such moves by Ukrainian sports organizations irritate the international sports community,” Kolobkov said in an interview with TASS.

Previously, the Ukrainian Fencing Federation filed a complaint with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) against the International Fencing Federation, claiming that it had not suspended membership in the Russian national federation and authorized Russian athletes to participate in tournaments.
