Previously, Deontay announced his return to the ring
Former world champion Deontay Wilder confirmed that he is still ready to meet the former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
“The other thing I wanted to touch on is the fight that everyone is looking forward to. I’m doing everything in my power to make this happen. And I mean the fight with Anthony Joshua. So, Anthony, you hear it from my mouth, from my horse’s mouth: “I’m here, I’m ready.”
“I heard something about what your promoter said, that my last fight only lasted a short period of time, that I haven’t fought in a year and he doesn’t know if I want to fight or not. But I’m letting you know right now, right here, I’m ready to fight.”
“The stupidest thing I’ve heard is people saying you’re not ready. I don’t believe it. I’m waiting for your answer. I’ll talk to you soon.”
Wilder previously announced a return to the ring in the foreseeable future. Deontay last fought in October 2022, knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round.
Wilder was in talks to fight Anthony Joshua. According to the British promoter Eddie Hearn, if this fight takes place, it will not be earlier than March-April 2024.
