Athletistic/Others. Dmitry Svishchev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, expressed his comments on the development of the number of Russian athletes qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, in an interview with SE magazine.

“The IOC is so inconsistent in its decisions and statements that neither Russia, nor Belarus, nor the athletes themselves trust it. The IOC has plunged itself into a dead end. They, they say, admit our athletes, but with restrictions. Today I read the conditions: even nails should not be painted with the tricolor. Tattoos, pendants and, in general, everything related to Russia are prohibited. A shameful decision. Where do our athletes come from – from the moon? I’m not surprised that they “We are changing the number of athletes. It is possible that they will cancel the participation of our athletes again. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if their numbers increase, because not all qualifying tournaments are finished. Theoretically, our athletes have the opportunity to go to the Olympics if the IOC does not come up with something new,” Svishchev noted in an interview with SE.

According to updated information on the IOC website, six Russian and five Belarusian athletes have received a license to participate in the Olympic Games. Earlier, on December 8, the IOC announced the admission of eight Russian and three Belarusian participants.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
