Boxing evening will be held in Las Vegas
WBO world junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez decided on his next opponent.
Lopez will fight with former opponent of Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko – Jemaine Ortiz. The fight will take place on February 8 in Las Vegas, and Theo’s title will be on the line.
In June, Teofimo announced that he was retiring from his boxing career and relinquishing his championship title. Later, the American changed his mind about leaving boxing and declared his readiness to defend his belt. Lopez managed to challenge the absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney.
Previously, Teofimo rejected the offer of a fight with Ryan Garcia due to the low fee. According to Teofimo, the fight was planned to take place in early 2024.
The world champion also expects to fight with IBF junior welterweight title holder Sabriel Mathias and WBO, WBA and WBC welterweight belt holder Terence Crawford.
In his last fight, Lopez defeated Briton Josh Taylor. Following the results of 12 rounds, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to the American – 115:113, 115:113 117:111. Ortiz defeated Mexican Antonio Moran in his last fight.
