Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova told that Russian figure skating occupies a leading position in the world, which is confirmed by the European Championships taking place in Lithuania.
The European Championships take place in Kaunas (Lithuania) from January 10 to 14. The tournament entry lists include 24 Russian-born skaters: 8 doubles skaters, 7 singles skaters, 5 dancers and 4 singles skaters.
— At the European Championships, 24 Russian-born athletes compete for other teams. Plus those who were born outside Russia, but later had Russian citizenship. What are so many ex-Russians talking about?
— Of course, it is clear that Russian figure skating occupies a leading position in the world. At the European Championships, we only hear Russian names and surnames.
— And the large number of Russian coaches present at the Kaunas tournament also confirms the leadership of our country?
– How could it be otherwise, do you have any doubts? I confirm that our coaching school is the first in the world. I myself have worked with skaters from other countries, I know that. – Tarasova told .
Russian figure skaters have not participated in tournaments under the auspices of the International Skating Union since March 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
