Athletistic/Figure skating. Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova noted in an interview with Match TV that Russian figure skating occupies a leading position in the world, which is confirmed by the current European Championships in Lithuania.

The competition takes place in Kaunas (Lithuania) from January 10 to 14, and the list of participants includes 24 skaters born in Russia: 8 pairs, 7 singles, 5 dancers and 4 singles.

— At the European Championships, 24 athletes born in Russia represent other countries. In addition, there are those who were born outside Russia, but later acquired Russian citizenship. How do you assess such a number of former Russians?

— Of course, this indicates that Russian figure skating occupies a leading position in the world. At the European Championships, Russian names and surnames are constantly heard.

“A large number of Russian coaches present at this tournament also confirm the leadership of our country?”

– How could it be otherwise? Do you have any doubts? I claim our coaching school is the best in the world. This is confirmed by my experience of working with skaters from different countries,” Tarasova emphasized.
