Genoa won a strong-willed victory over Lecce in the home match of the 22nd round Serie A – 2:1.
The visitors had a chance to score midway through the first half, but Nikola Krstovic missed the penalty. The Montenegrin forward corrected his mistake by later scoring after a pass from Valentin Gendre.
The Griffins bounced back midway through the second half, with Mateo Retegui scoring. And six minutes later, the Italian national team forward passed the goal to Caleb Ekuban, who brought Genoa victory.
Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovsky played the entire match as part of the host team. For the midfielder, the match was the 21st for Genoa in all competitions of the season. The Ukrainian scored two goals and gave two assists.
Genoa is in 11th place in Serie A with 28 points. Lecce remains in 14th place with 21 points.
In the next match, Malinovsky’s team will play away on February 3 against Empoli. Lecce will host Fiorentina on February 2.
