Usyk considers Hrgovic as his next opponent on February 17

The Ukrainian’s team was informed that Fury would need several months to recover from the injury.

WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion Alexander Usik considers the Croatian boxer as his next opponent Filip Hrgovic. The fight is scheduled to take place on February 17.

The Ukrainian’s manager, Egis Klimas, said that Alexander’s opponent in the fight for the undisputed title, Tyson Fury, will need several months to recover from injury. Representatives of the British informed Usik’s entourage about this, and the Ukrainian champion’s team began searching for a new opponent.

Let us remind you that Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight belt, which Usik owns. The winner of Alexander’s fight with Tyson Fury was obliged to defend his title against the Croatian without any intermediate fights, or to vacate the belt.

Earlier it became known that the “Gypsy King” was injured during training. The Briton had to get stitches, which is why he does not have time to recover for the fight for the title of absolute world champion.

The fight for the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight was supposed to take place on February 17 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The special guest of the event was Lennox Lewis. The undercard featured fights between former IBF cruiserweight world champion Jay Opetai, 19-year-old Moses Itauma and IBF super featherweight world champion Joe Cordina.
