Olympic cross-country ski champion Yulia Stupak admitted that she was satisfied with her performance in the sprint race in the classic style at the Spartakiad of the Strongest in Tyumen.
On Friday, Stupak was eliminated in the semi-final of the sprint. Anastasia Faleeva won, Veronika Stepanova finished second. Daria Nepryaeva took third place.
– Amazing day! Since September, due to illness, I have only done three weeks of training, three!!! Today I am in seventh position. It’s not as cool as getting on the Olympic podium, you could say, but I’m happy, ”Stupak wrote on the social network.
After the race, Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) President Elena Vyalbe told that Stupak was having head problems. According to Vyalbe, if the athlete does not correct them, this season will be his last.
The Spartakiade ski tournament takes place from February 9 to 18.
