Perez talked with Lunin and promised him playing practice next season

Presumably, the Ukrainian will play in the Champions League and the Spanish Cup

The president Real Madrid Florentino Perez and Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrey Lunin talked about the player’s future in the capital’s club.

According to Spanish media, Perez’s message was quite categorical and definite. He promised Lunin that even with a healthy Thibaut Courtois, he would receive some playing practice – for example, in the Champions League and the Spanish Cup.

Let us remind you that the 24-year-old goalkeeper recently confirmed that his current agreement with the capital club is valid until 2025. In January it was reported that Real Madrid had offered the 24-year-old Ukrainian a new contract until 2030.

After Blancos’ main goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was injured at the very beginning of the season, the club hastily hired Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea to replace him. However, Lunin gradually ousted the Spaniard from the “frame”. As a result, as it became known, Real decided not to buy out Kepa’s contract from the London club.

Meanwhile, Courtois’s recovery timeline is ahead of expectations – the Belgian could return to action this season.

The Ukrainian has already played 15 matches for the Madrid team this season, in which he conceded 13 goals. In six games, Lunin kept a clean sheet. In a recent derby against Atlético Madrid (1:1), Andrei helped his team out several times, parrying the shots of Morata and Witsel, but at the end of the game he was unable to parry Llorente’s shot. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the goalkeeper’s contribution to the result of the match.

Real Madrid leads La Liga, two points ahead of Girona from Ukrainians Artem Dovbik and Viktor Tsygankov. Today, February 10, the “Ukrainian derby” between the teams of Ancelotti and Michel will take place in La Liga. Starts at 19:30 Kyiv time.
