The team is preparing in Poland for the match with Iceland in the Euro 2026 qualification
Football players of the Ukrainian national team unfurled the banner Free Azovstal Defenders after training in the Polish city of Opalenica.
The players recalled the importance of releasing prisoners of war. The football players also once again drew the attention of Europe to the fact that the war continues in Ukraine and people are dying every day.
Earlier, the head coach of the Icelandic national team, Åge Hareide, supported the Ukrainians who are suffering from the war. A Norwegian specialist said that his daughter welcomed refugees from Ukraine into her home.
The Ukrainian national team will play against Iceland in the final of the playoffs for Euro 2024. The nominally “home” match for Sergei Rebrov’s team will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26. The meeting starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
The match will be judged by a French team of referees led by Clement Turpin. The winner of the confrontation will advance to the 2024 European Championship, where they will play in a quartet with E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 761st day.
