The “Gypsy King” said that he has no enmity towards the Ukrainian world champion
WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury said that he has no enmity towards the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usyk.
“Look, I have no animosity towards fighters that I have fought or will fight in the future. Usik seems like a decent guy. He is a believer and has small children himself.”
“I can imagine us throwing five liters of beer each. He looks like such a character, doesn’t he? And at the moment we have a good promotion here: for two it will be seven pounds. It’s not bad. We need to spend the Saudi money on something.”
The unification fight between Usik and Fury will take place on May 18. MEGOGO became the official broadcaster of the event for Ukrainian viewers.
The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million.
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the second fight. It was reported that the fate of a possible rematch depends on the holding of the first fight. Fury said that the contract has a mandatory rematch clause, and a re-fight with Usyk could take place in October.
Suleiman also presented a special WBC belt for which Usik and Fury will fight. Its design uses the colors of the Ukrainian and British flags. Pope Francis has already blessed the World Boxing Council belt that will be on the line in the title fight.
