Russian cyclist BORA‑Hansgrohe Alexander Vlasov received neutral status from the International Cycling Union (UCI), reports the organization’s press service.
Vlasov needs this status if he wants to participate in the Olympic Games, World or European Championships. He did not need neutral status to play for BORA-Hansgrohe.
Previously, Vlasov told that he requested neutral status in order to have the opportunity, if necessary, to go to the Olympics, but rather to the World Championship. The rider indicated that his calendar gives priority to the Grand Tours (Tour de France, Vuelta) rather than the Olympic Games.
Russian cyclist Aglaya Kokareva, 16, who competes on highways, also received neutral status.
