International Olympic Committee (IOC) released a film “Victoria: the gymnastic hope of Ukraine”dedicated to the Ukrainian athlete Victoria OnoprienkoEuropean champion 2023 in rhythmic gymnastics.
“Bombs fell on her hometown of Kyiv, her father went to war, but the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast continued to fight to make her Parisian dream a reality,” the video’s annotation reads.
The documentary is dedicated to Victoria’s emotional journey to winning an Olympic license, her perseverance, perseverance and determination against the backdrop of a full-scale war unleashed by Russia, which turned the lives of the gymnast herself, her loved ones and all Ukrainians upside down.
“It’s very difficult because of the air raid, because of what’s happening in our country. They fire at us at night. You sleep for three or four hours. But you still need to come and study. You can’t train less because you risk losing everything you gained before,” the heroine of the film is quoted as saying.
Let us remember that in May 2023, Onoprienko became the European champion, bringing her country the first gold in singles finals in 18 years. In August of the same year, Victoria won the first license at the 2024 Olympic Games for Ukraine in rhythmic gymnastics.
