The Englishman beat Welshman Jack Jones in the final

Englishman Kyren Wilson became the winner World Snooker Championship 2024.

In a surprise ending, an English snooker player, seeded 12th, beat Jack Jones from Wales (44th place) with a score of 18:14.

Wilson passed Dominic Dale, Joe O’Connor, John Higgis and David Gilbert on his way to the final match.

In the final match, Wilson built up a comfortable lead from the start, winning the first seven frames during the opening session on Sunday. In the final session, the Englishman managed to bring the match to victory, despite decent resistance from Jones.

32-year-old Wilson became the world snooker champion for the first time in his career. In 2020, he already played in the decisive match of the tournament, but lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan. 30-year-old Jones sensationally reached the World Cup final for the first time in his career, having previously only played in the semi-finals of a ranking tournament once.

For winning the tournament, the Englishman also received a prize of 500 thousand pounds sterling. Jones’s prize money was 200 thousand.

The World Snooker Championship took place from 20 April to 6 May 2024 at the Crucible Theater (Sheffield, England).
