Nottingham Forest lose appeal over points deduction for breaking financial rules

Four points were not returned to the club

Nottingham Forest lost an appeal against points being deducted for a violation financial fair play (FFP) English Premier League

Since the summer of 2022 (after promotion), Forest have signed 42 new players for a total of around £250 million. The club violated the league’s rules on “profits and sustainability.” Nottingham were deducted four points and the club’s appeal was rejected.

At the end of last season, the team led by Chris Cooper finished 16th and retained their place in the Premier League. Since December 2023, Lesnikov has been training Nuno Espirito Santa. Forest currently occupy 17th place in the league table, two points ahead of Luton Town in the relegation zone.

Let us remind you that the clubs of the English Premier League voted by a majority of votes in favor of new rules for spending funds for members of the Premier League, which will come into force from the 2025/26 season and will replace the current rules of the league on “profitability and sustainable development”.
