Niva V fan and Azovstal’s youngest defender Grintsevich died defending Ukraine

“Grenka” passed through Russian captivity and, upon returning, joined the “Azov” brigade.

Fan Vinnytsia Niva Nazariy “Grenka” Grintsevich died at the front, defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion. The warrior turned 21 in March.

“Grenka” was one of the youngest fighters who defended Azovstal in 2022. Nazariy was captured by Russia and was held in the occupied territory of the Donetsk region for more than four months.

On September 21, 2022, Grintsevich was released as part of a large exchange along with 215 other Ukrainian prisoners of war. Together with friends, “Grenka” founded the “Contact 12” unit in the “Azov” special forces brigade, where he was the commander of a platoon of optical observers.

Earlier it was reported that two-time European weightlifting champion Alexander Peleshenko died in the war with Russia. In April, it became known about the death of former handball player Sergei Chuprina and international master of sports, shooting coach Valentin Dondikov. In March, Master of Sports of Ukraine in rowing, multiple champion of Ukraine and bronze medalist of the European Championship, Dmitry Gubanov, died.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air bombardments of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 804th day.
