Evgeny Revenko, deputy head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, believes that Russian athletes will be able to fully participate in the Olympic Games no earlier than 2032. He expressed this opinion at a meeting of the State Duma Sports Committee.
“We now face an important strategic task, since the prospects of participation in the Olympic Games are now zero and the 2028 Olympic Games are in question. The next Games will be in 2032. The next Olympics, when we can expect to win them. “The full part will take place in eight years. We are now faced with the task of full, very serious and very deep preparation for these Games,” Revenko said, as quoted by TASS.
On December 8, 2023, the IOC decided to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics with individual neutral status and subject to a number of conditions. It should be noted that athletes from Russia and Belarus can participate in the Paris Games only in individual disciplines, while team sports competitions will be held without the participation of these countries.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In 2032, the Summer Games will take place in Brisbane (Australia).
