Athletistic / Chess. The current world chess champion, Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren, appreciated the resounding words of Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen. Previously, the Scandinavian said that psychologically, Liren was broken forever.
“Magnus tried to tell the truth. He said what he felt. After the World Championships I really had an extremely difficult time, at first I was exhausted, then I also got sick. Now, I can say that I recovered from the illness, but my strength has not returned to the same level,” Chessbase quotes Liren.
In 2023, after Liren’s victory over Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi in the world title match, the Chinese did not organize a single good tournament.
On May 27, a super chess tournament will begin in Norway. Magnus Carlsen and Ding Liren will participate.
Note that in the spring of 2025, Ding Liren will have to defend his chess crown in a match against the Indian Gukesh Dommaraj, 17 years old.
