17-year-old Sinchuk scored a goal and an assist in his debut match for the Rotan team
Ukrainian Olympic team started at an international friendly tournament Tournoi Maurice Revello, which takes place in France, with a major victory over Indonesia U-20 – 3:0.
Taking into account the average difference in age, as well as the obvious difference in class, Ruslan Rotan’s team played without excessive effort, realizing several created opportunities.
Already at the beginning of the meeting, Gennady Sinchuk celebrated his debut for the Olympic team with a goal. The 17-year-old winger of Metalist skillfully shot low into touch. At the end of the half hour, the score was doubled by Nikolai Mikhailenko, who accurately struck the corner after the ball bounced towards him during a protracted attack.
Having not met any serious resistance, the blue-yellows scored again after the break. Sinchuk broke through the flank and crossed the goalkeeper with a cross from the right. The ball probably went into the goal anyway, but Oleg Fedor put it into the net just in case.
In the remaining time, the Ukrainian team completely dominated, but could not score more or did not want to. In the second round, the Rotan team will face Italy U-21 on June 6, which previously beat Japan U-19 with a score of 4:3. Also participating in Group B is the Panama U-23 team. The youth team tournament will end on June 16.
Let us remind you that in the summer of 2024 Ukraine will take part in the Olympic football tournament for the first time. Ruslan Rotan’s team won a ticket to Paris last year, reaching the semi-finals of the European Youth Championship.
The Ukrainian national team will play at the 2024 Olympics with Argentina, Morocco and Iraq. In the first round, Rotan’s team will meet the Asian team on July 24.
