Ukrainian athlete Lyudmila Olyanovskaya received a license in race walking Olympic Games 2024.
The athlete won bronze medal at the 2024 European Championships at a distance of 20 kilometers. The Ukrainian completed the competition with a result of 1:28:48 hours, surpassing the Olympic standard (1:29:20 hours).
The first two places were won by Italians Antonella Palmisano and Valentina Trapetti. Olyanovskaya, in the fight for bronze, was ahead of Spaniard Laura Garcia-Caro in the last meters, who prematurely began to celebrate her place on the podium with a flag in her hands. Another Ukrainian Elena Sobchuk became tenth, Maria Sakharuk took 13th place.
Let us remind you that in March Maria Sakharuk won a license for the 2024 Olympic Games in 20 km race walking. Last year, Sobchuk fulfilled the Olympic standard in the same discipline. Ukraine also won an Olympic license at the 2024 World Race Walking Championships in the marathon mixed relay.
