This arena was a training base for the national teams of the Netherlands and Ukraine
In the center Munich an installation has opened, the central object of which is part of the tribune of the Kharkov stadium “Solnechny”which was seriously damaged by Russian shelling in 2022.
The Ukrainian Football Association carried the podium across Europe as a reminder that football in our country, like other areas of life, also directly suffers from the war unleashed by Russia. The UAF recalls that more than 500 sports facilities have already been damaged by bombing and missile attacks from a terrorist country.
Using VR glasses, visitors to the installation can see in real time the Kharkov arena and all the destruction caused by the aggressor’s shelling. Also, anyone can get acquainted with the history of the Solnechny stadium.
Let us remember that this arena was built in 2011 before Euro 2012. At that forum, it became the training base of the Dutch national team, and subsequently the Ukrainian national team held preparatory training camps there. Also at Solnechny, home matches were played by Helios, Metalist 1925, Metal and a number of other Kharkov teams.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 845th day.
