Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva beat Australian Maddison Inglis in the final of the Wimbledon 2024 qualification.
The match lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. The opponents exchanged breaks, but in the tenth game the Ukrainian played a brilliant return and broke someone else’s serve. As a result, Starodubtseva won the first game with a score of 6:4.
The second set was much easier for Yulia – she confidently took her serve, made two breaks and triumphed in the game with a final score of 6:2. Starodubtseva played three matches in qualifying for Wimbledon 2024, but did not give up a single set to her opponents.
Starodubtseva became the seventh Ukrainian in the main draw of Wimbledon 2024, joining Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremska, Lesya Tsurenko, Angelina Kalinina, as well as Katerina Beindl, who used a “protected rating” for her entry.
The British Grand Slam tournament will take place (in the main draw) from July 1 to 14. In last year’s Wimbledon, the best among Ukrainians was Svitolina, who reached the semifinals.
