The IOC has not allowed Russian rowers, shooters and pentathletes to participate in the Paris Olympics in neutral status

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has published on its official website an updated list of Russian athletes admitted to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris with neutral status.

In total, the list includes 23 athletes with Russian passports. Russia’s representatives in weightlifting, rowing, shooting and pentathlon did not receive quotas. Russian tennis players Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Roman Safiullin, Daria Kasatkina, Lyudmila Samsonova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Mirra Andreeva were admitted to the Games with neutral status.

The first list of athletes granted neutral status was published on June 15. 14 athletes were included.

In February 2022, the IOC recommended that sports federations not allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in international tournaments. Later, the recommendations were softened, and in December 2023, IOC chief Thomas Bach announced that the organization would allow Russian and Belarusian athletes who passed the selection process to the 2024 Summer Games in an individual neutral status. The athletes will be able to perform in Paris without a flag, anthem, and other national symbols.

The Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11.
