Spalletti: We have not yet realized our full potential at the Euro

The coach believes that Squadra needs to improve

National team coach Italy Luciano Spalletti commented on the upcoming match against Switzerland in the 1/8 finals of Euro 2024.

“To make Italy proud of us, we need to do more than we have done so far. The draw placed us in a difficult group, and the players did not always cope. Now I hope to see them more relaxed on the field.”

“There is no need to follow other matches, count points – everything is happening here and now. We will advance to the next round only if we win this match.”

“We have not yet realized our full potential. Only in individual episodes. We deservedly qualified from the group, even if we needed a goal at the end of the last match. But now everyone has to ask themselves more questions.”

“We know that we are facing an awkward opponent in Switzerland. We need to improve, especially in terms of character. Bastogne should be fine: he trained and that made us breathe a sigh of relief. DiMarco won’t be there, he won’t play.”

The match between Switzerland and Italy will be officiated by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak. His compatriots, Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik, will be his assistants. The match itself will take place in Berlin, the starting whistle will sound at 19:00 Kyiv time.
