Bordeaux announced that the club will be relegated to the French third division due to debts

Ukrainian Danylo Ignatenko’s club failed to sort out debt obligations

Bordeaux announced that the club would be relegated to the third division of the championship due to debt obligations amounting to 40 million euros France.

Negotiations between the Girondins’ leadership and the company Fenway Sports Group (which owns Liverpool) were unsuccessful. As a result, Bordeaux withdrew the appeal filed against the DNCG’s decision and accepted the relegation.

Currently owned by Luxembourg-Spanish businessman Gerard Lopez, Bordeaux have spent the last two seasons in the second-strongest French division.

Bordeaux features Ukrainian midfielder Danylo Ignatenko, who is a product of Shakhtar and is known in the UPL for his performances for Mariupol and Dnipro-1.

Last season, Bordeaux finished 12th in the French Ligue 2. The team’s head coach is the famous former Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera.
