Bronze medalist of the Russian Figure Skating Championship Katharina Gerboldt told that for her and the country, Russian figure skaters will remain the winners of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games, despite the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On Thursday, CAS said it had rejected appeals by the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), the Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFIKR) and Russian figure skaters against the International Skating Union’s (ISU) decision to redistribute medals from the team tournament at the Beijing Games following the disqualification of Kamila Valieva. In January, the ISU annulled Valieva’s results and moved the Russian team from first to third place.
“It’s a shame that CAS decided this way. Our guys deserved these gold medals. For our country and for me, they remain Olympic champions. In any case, we are for our guys. I think it is indecent to delay the delivery of medals and titles. This is already a parody of the athletes,” Gerboldt told .
