Usyk: Will the distribution of fees in the rematch be in my favor? Not a fact

The boxers have personal contracts for the second fight.

Ukrainian boxer, current WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight title holder Alexander Usyk (22-0, 14 KO) stated that the distribution and payment of fees after the first fight with the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) was successful.

Usyk denied the information that he would receive 90 million for the second fight with the “Gypsy King”. The Ukrainian emphasized that each boxer has a personal agreement, the details of which cannot be disclosed.

“I don’t talk about that – how much, when. When you name some specific figures… I don’t think about what people think of me, but I don’t talk about figures – how much I earned, how much after taxes. Everything I earned is all mine, thank God. Everyone got their dividends, which they should get.”

“Will the distribution of fees in the rematch be in my favor? Not a fact. In the first contract we signed, there was a clause about the rematch. The financial conditions of the rematch were spelled out. 90 million for me and 60 for Fury? If so, it would be cool.”

“Each of us has a personal contract with Saudi Arabia. It cannot be disclosed. The numbers are not disclosed at all. If it happens as they say on the networks, then I will definitely say: “Damn, it came true, cool.”

The fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Tyson Fury brought the organizers over 90 million dollars in revenue. All expenses for production, fighters’ fees, entertainment, travel, etc. cost about 120 million dollars.

On the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted Tyson’s first defeat in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Oleksandr is the second boxer in history after Evander Holyfield, who was the absolute world champion in cruiserweight and heavyweight. Also, the Ukrainian boxer became the third (after Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue) in the era of four prestigious titles absolute champion in two weight categories.

Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he held for more than a month.

Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on December 21. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek to introduce video replays in this fight.
