The Ukrainian national goalball team won silver at the 2024 Paralympics for the first time in its history

The Ukrainians reached the final, where they lost to Japan in overtime.

Ukraine National Goalball Team conquered silver medals on Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris. In the final, the blue-yellows lost in overtime Japan — 3:4.

In the first half of the match, the Japanese broke away with a two-goal advantage. However, Ukraine managed to recoup before the break, with Anton Strelchik and Vasyl Oliynyk scoring.

In the second half, Japan took the lead again. And again, the Ukrainians managed to equalize the score, Strelchyk scored twice and transferred the game to overtime. In extra time, Yuto Sano scored his second goal of the game, bringing his team gold.

Ukraine won medals in goalball at the Paralympics for the first time in history. The blue-yellows took part in the Paralympic tournament for the second time.

The 2024 Paralympics are taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team is represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians are competing in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – a record in the history of our country.
