Vanat: Such penalties cannot be given at this level

The forward also thanked the fans for their support in Prague

Forward of the national team Ukraine Vladislav Vanat unhappy with the referee’s decision to award a penalty at the end of the match against the Czech Republic (2:3) in the second round of the 2024/25 Nations League.

“I don’t know, if we didn’t win, then we can’t evaluate the game positively, but I think that in the second half we had more of an initiative in the game. The kind of penalties that they give – it seems that at this level this can’t happen.”

“Why can’t I play well from the first minutes? I don’t know, there is no answer to this question. Maybe it seems that way and it is so [что не играем хорошо с первых минут]. As I said before, I cannot answer this question.”

“The Czech Republic is the Czech Republic, even when we played with the youth team, they promoted this kind of football, where they play more forward, they cling on, they create moments. This is their style, thank them for the game, it was good.”

“The atmosphere at the stadium? I want to thank the fans, they created it.”

In the match Vanat scored his debut goal for the blue-yellows. After the game, the fans recognized the striker as the “Lion of the match against the Czech Republic”.
