After the extension of the contract with Lunin, Real will demand up to 35 million euros for the Ukrainian

Even after signing a new agreement, the Ukrainian may still soon move to another club

According to Spanish media, the goalkeeper’s new contract Andrey Lunin With Real Madridwhich is expected to be officially announced soon, does not necessarily mean that the Ukrainian has chosen to stay in Madrid for a long time.

This step may be just a financial insurance for the club, which will now not risk letting Lunin go for free, but will be able to raise decent money on his sale. Transfermarkt currently values the 25-year-old goalkeeper at 25 million euros. However, it is reported that the Madrid club intends to get up to 35 million for Andrey.

Recall that today it became known that Blancos and the Ukrainian goalkeeper agreed on a new contract until 2028. The deal will be officially announced this week.

Since spring, Lunin had an offer from Blancos to extend his contract, which expires on June 30, 2025. The goalkeeper and his agent, Jorge Mendes, did not comment on the situation regarding the new agreement. The Ukrainian doubted whether he should continue his career in Madrid and again step into the shadow of Thibaut Courtois, despite information about an increase in salary and a guarantee of playing time.

Lunin had a strong 2023/24 season, his best in his years at Real Madrid – 31 matches in all competitions, 32 goals conceded, 12 clean sheets. But in May he returned from Courtois’ injury and immediately put his rival back on the bench.

Lunin was on the bench in all matches at the start of the new season – the aforementioned Courtois has consistently occupied a place in the starting lineup. At the same time, Lunin was nominated for the prize of the best goalkeeper of the year of the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.

Real is in second place in La Liga after four rounds. On September 14, Carlo Ancelotti’s team will play against Real Sociedad.
