Athletistic / Olympic Games. The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov believes that the Olympic movement has deteriorated in a short time. He made this statement at the II All-Russian Forum “Faith and Sport” at the Olympic Games in Nizhny.
“The vast majority of Russians not only share the main Olympic ideals and values, but also do not give up what they have been doing all their lives. I am now talking about our athletes who continue to train, finding new motivation within the current restrictions. The same can be said about coaches. That is why the sports industry is one of the most successful in Russia.
“Unfortunately, a lot has changed in the Olympic movement, but not for the better. Earlier, I have repeatedly spoken about the so-called gender differences, when it is not clear who is participating in the competitions. The Olympic movement is going through a serious crisis, because in a short time we are witnessing a degradation of ideals and a collapse of traditions,” Pozdnyakov was quoted as saying by the press service of the Republic of China.
On October 12, 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) “until further notice” for including the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions among its Olympic Council members.
The Paris Summer Olympics took place from July 26 to August 11. Athletes from Russia and Belarus participated in these competitions exclusively in individual neutral status. These sanctions are related to the conduct of a special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine and have nothing to do with sports.
