Olympic champion thanks Ukrainian soldiers for defending the country
Olympic champion in high jump Yaroslav Maguchikh announced the end of its competitive season.
“Completed the 2024 competition season. This year has become a lifelong story not only for me but also for my country. We now hold the world record and Olympic gold in high jump.”
“I want to thank my entire team and fans for their constant support and faith. And the military for protecting our country. And I want to say – if it weren’t for you, there would be no Ukraine, no anthem, no flag, no medals. We do a good thing by receiving awards. And you do a big thing by winning.”
“I believe that the 2025 season will be no less interesting, but before that I still have enough time to rest and surprise you again,” the athlete wrote.
Maguchikh’s last competition was the 2024 Diamond League final in Brussels. Yaroslava won in Belgium, and another Ukrainian, Iryna Gerashchenko, won bronze. Maguchikh won the Diamond League final for the third year in a row.
Let us recall that on July 7, Maguchikh broke the world record in high jump, which had stood since 1987 – Yaroslava cleared 2.10 m at the Diamond League stage in Paris. Later, Yaroslava won gold at the 2024 Olympic Games.
