Matarazzo: We wanted to put pressure because Dynamo are not used to this in the Ukrainian championship

Hoffenheim inflicted a second defeat on the Kiev team in the Europa League

Head coach Hoffenheim Pellegrino Matarazzo said that his team managed to implement the plan for the game with Dynamo (2:0) in Europa League 2024/25.

“We wanted to press harder because we knew that Dynamo dominates the national championship, has a lot of possession and doesn’t have much pressure. So we wanted to catch them doing something wrong or force them into situations they weren’t used to. The plan was to dominate with possession and chances and it worked well, especially in the first half.”

“I saw a team on the field that acted as a unit, brought energy to the field and, in my opinion, also played good football. It makes me proud.”

“Four points from two games in the Europa League is a good start, definitely a positive thing. We gain confidence and energy. This justifies our path and the work we have done. Holding dry results gives a very good feeling.”

Hoffenheim scored a goal in each half. Adam Glozek scored a brace. The Kiev team did not create enough sharp moments, and the hosts confidently brought the match to victory.

Dynamo suffered a second defeat in a row and in the online table of the general stage of the LE ranks last, 36th place with a goal difference of 0:5. In the third round, the Kiev team will play away against Artem Dovbik’s Roma on October 24.
