Francis is currently taking a break from the ring
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou I have not yet decided on my next opponent. However, the fighter emphasized that he is interested in confronting former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder.
“I don’t have a name right now [с кем бы я хотел подраться]. I think it depends on the situation [когда я вернусь]. Why not [Деонтей] Wilder or rematch with Fury? I don’t know. I’m for everything that makes sense.”
“He [Уайлдер] is a very good name that would interest me.”
Francis made his professional boxing debut in October 2023 against then WBC champion Tyson Fury – and lost by decision. The Cameroonian had his next fight in March 2024 against Anthony Joshua and was knocked out in the second round.
It is known that Ngannou previously expressed a desire to fight with Ukrainian Alexander Usyk. As for Wilder, he also considered the option of fighting against Francis.
Ngannou will officially return to MMA on October 19th. The 39-year-old mixed martial artist will resume his career against Brazilian Renan “Problem” Ferreira as part of the “Battle of the Giants” event.
