The Tatarstan national team reached the final of the Spartakiad of the strongest, having won victories in all rounds of the group stage. On Friday, the Verbov team defeated the Leningrad region team 3–2.
– Spartakiad is a very long tournament, many matches in a short time. We tried to alternate the guys on the site, we deserved this opportunity. It’s also a good test for the younger generation, they managed to play against Superleague teams. At one point they lowered their heads, but it was nice to see that in episode five they walked into the courthouse like phoenixes, with different faces.
We were preparing for the Spartakiad, as well as for any other tournament. We brought together players who are not used to doing something full time. The calendar is torn for us, we have to be ready for this tournament, the championship starts in a month, but everything is on an equal footing, it’s hard for everyone.
In the future, the Spartakiad format may be revised, but the tournament is interesting and useful. When else do we hold matches with such important rivals? Verbov told .
