Russian troops continue to bring death and take the lives of Ukrainian soldiers-athletes.
Putin’s army claimed the life of another Ukrainian soldier-athlete. During the defense of Kharkov, on May 2, the winner of last year’s “Invictus Games” Andrey Kotovenko died.
This was announced by his son Ivan. In a comment on one of the posts, he clarified that his father died around four in the morning on May 2nd.

After that, information about the athlete’s death was also confirmed at the Warrior Games: Team Ukraine.
“Ukraine has once again suffered irreparable losses, our Warrior Games team is once again mourning a brother. You will be remembered as the defender of Ukraine who laid down his life for our future!” is promised in the message.
It should be noted that Andrei Kotovenko is an ATO veteran and was seriously injured in clashes near the Donetsk airport. After rehabilitation, he entered for sports and represented Ukraine at the Invictus Games.
In June 2021, Kotovenko won the national Invictus Games competition in powerlifting. On October 25, 2021, he won bronze in the bench press discipline at the World Powerlifting Championships.
