Hungarian skaters are unhappy with the invitation to the national team of Russians, who have changed their sports citizenship, according to the Hungarian edition Valasz Online.
According to the source, due to the naturalization of Russian athletes, skaters fear losing their place in the Hungarian national team. Previously, the local federation had naturalized Polina Dzhumaniyazova, a 14-year-old Russian.
– I had great results, but suddenly a Russian woman was found. I will go where I am expected and appreciated. My country does not need me,” Vivienne Papp, a Hungarian, wrote on social media.
Earlier it became known that since the beginning of the year, 19 skaters have applied to the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) to change their nationality.
The International Skating Union (ISU), amid the situation in Ukraine, has suspended Russian athletes from starts under the auspices of the ISU until further notice.
