Fourth world title for Italy
Men’s team Italy won in volleyball World Cup 2022. In the final, the Italians in four games defeated the reigning world champions and the hosts of the tournament – the team of Poland.
The final was played in Katowice, Poland, and the hosts won the first set. In the second installment, the Italians managed to pull out the ending, and this psychologically broke Poland. In the third and fourth sets, Italy was constantly ahead and confidently brought the matter to victory.
Italy won the first victory in the volleyball world championship in the last 24 years and became the most titled men’s team. The Italians have four world titles, while the closest pursuers – Brazil and Poland – have three each.
For the first time since 2010, Poland lost the final of the World Volleyball Championship. In 2014 and 2018, the Poles won the tournament, both times beating Brazil.
Recall that the Ukrainian men’s volleyball team reached the quarterfinals at the 2022 World Championship. This is the best result in history.
