Maria Kasumova, coach of Svetlana Panova’s group and former choreographer Kamila Valieva said that creating a show program tournament in Moscow would allow skaters to satisfy their hunger for competition.
Earlier, the Russian Figure Skating Federation announced the appearance of a show program tournament, in which everyone can participate, including skaters who have completed their career. The tournament will be held in Moscow from March 18 to 19, 2023. The competition prize will be 10 million rubles.
– Such starts in this situation are simply necessary. Not only in terms of popularization with the public, but also for the interest of the athletes themselves.
And I’m not talking about money now. They need excitement and a competitive spirit. No one is only interested in training. All athletes need a goal.
I believe all coaches and athletes should appreciate the opportunity to compete. Now it’s hard for everyone to get back to their usual form, Kasumova said.
