“I want to ride for people.” Trusova – on motivation after Russia’s withdrawal from international competitions

Figure skater, silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics Alexandra Trousova said she wants to skate for people despite the isolation of Russian sport, and that helps her find motivation.

Currently, Russian athletes are suspended from international competitions due to events in Ukraine.

– Was it difficult to find the motivation to continue your career?

– Even if there was no isolation, I have no other reason – I want to ride for people.

It’s a pity that this happened. But even worse for those who were just going to participate in international competitions. We still managed to achieve a lot in sports, we took part in all competitions, including the Olympics. So, I continue my career on the ice, but I live for today, I don’t try to look far ahead. And now I don’t have a specific goal – I’m sure to go somewhere else and win something. I will skate for the fans, for myself,” Trusova told World of Figure Skating magazine.

Trusova, 18, is a bronze medalist at the World Championships, two-time world champion among juniors.
