Piastri and Sainz also posted top-3 results
Pilot Ferrari Charles Leclerc became the winner of the qualification Grand Prix of Azerbaijan.
The Monegasque racer completed the distance in 1:41.365, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri coming in second and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz third.
The top 10 also included: Sergio Perez (Red Bull), George Russell (Mercedes), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Franco Colapinto and Alexander Albon (both Williams).
Another McLaren driver, Lando Norris, failed to pass the first segment of qualifying and finished 17th.
Let us recall that at the previous Grand Prix, in Monza, Italy, Leclerc won his second victory of the season. In the personal standings, Max Verstappen from Red Bull is still confidently leading, with 303 points. Lando Norris from McLaren, who is in second place, has 241 points. Leclerc is third (217 points).
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix takes place from September 13 to 15. The main race will take place in Baku tomorrow, Sunday. The start is at 14:00 Kyiv time.
