The Spaniard Jorge Martin, driving a Ducati for the Prima Pramac Racing team, became for the first time in his career the road racing world champion in the MotoGP category.
Martin, 26, took third place in the race at the final stage of the season – the Barcelona Grand Prix. The victory was won by the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), the Spaniard Marc Marquez finished second on Ducati (Gresini Racing MotoGP).
At the end of the season, Martin scored 508 points, Bagnaia (498 points) finished second and six-time MotoGP champion Márquez (392) completed the top three. Last season, Martin finished second in the MotoGP class.
