MotoGP held the Portuguese Grand Prix this Sunday, the fifth date of the 2022 season.

Initial changes

After the very dynamic classification Johann Zarco was the fastest, from 09:00 am. from Argentina the competition started on Sunday and there was a lot to look forward to, with a great audience.

The lights went out and in the first few meters Joan Mir led, Fabio Quartararo was second and Miller third, while poleman Zarco fell to fourth place and Alex Márquez climbed to fifth place. Another who made a great start was Rins, who started on 23rd and in 2 laps he was ninth.

On lap 4, Quarararo set a lap record, attacked Mir and was able to account for the Spanish to lead Yamaha. Eventually, Jorge Martín fell and he had to leave the competition.

At a great pace, Quartararo was able to open up an advantage of more than a second over Mir, while on lap 11, the tournament leader, Enea Bastianini went to the ground and lost a big chance to score well.

After lap 12, Jack Miller fell at the end of the main straight and led Joan Mir, as they both battled for podium positions.

Fabio Quartararo was unreachable and on a solid drive he headed for his first victory as MotoGP world champion. Second finished Johann Zarco and the podium was completed by Aleix Espargaró. Then they finished: Álex Rins, Miguel Oliveira, Marc Márquez, Álex Márquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Pol Espargaró and Maverick Viñales.

With these results, the MotoGP championship tied Quartararo and Rins in the lead with 69 units, followed by Aleix Espargaró with 3 units.
