The Spaniard could not finish due to mechanical problems
Pilot Alpin Fernando Alonso started in his 349th Grand Prix in Formula 1. Speaking at the Italian Grand Prix, the Spaniard caught up with the record held by Kimi Raikonen.
Note that both pilots made their debut in the Royal Races on the same day – at the Australian Grand Prix in 2001. However, Alonso took a break from Formula 1 for some time, participating in endurance racing. Raikonen ended his career last season.
In Monza, Alonso failed to finish. The driver retired due to mechanical problems with the car.
Recall that the winner of the Italian Grand Prix was the pilot of Red Bull Max Verstappen. The Dutchman leads the individual standings with 335 points, 116 points ahead of Charles Leclerc. Alonso has 59 points.
Fernando Alonso will start his 349th race today! 🙌
That means he will equal Kimi Raikkonen’s record of the most race starts in F1 👊#ItalianGP #F1 @alo_official pic.twitter.com/WFLKGXo0Ah
