On Wednesday, Djokovic beat Rublev 6-4, 6-1. The eighth number in the world ranking qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament earlier than expected.
– It’s one of the best matches I’ve played this year, especially in the second set. Simply flawless. I started the match very energetically, I served well. I got a lot of points on the first serve. I think it helps, especially against a very dynamic and quality player like Rublev.
I just managed to find the right game in those moments. I was a little more patient than him in the 10th game of the first set.
Then Rublev lost a bit. It seemed to me that the initiative had passed to my side. I just felt that the first games of the second set would be key. I managed to take a break right away. After that, everything went wonderfully well.
