The Patricio Cornejo Academy responds to National Assets: “We don’t owe anything, we pay all the debt”

From the sports center, it says the $560 million outstanding was paid after the venue was closed due to the pandemic since April 2020 for over a year.

The Patricio Cornejo Academy came out in response to National Assets, saying it owed no debt to them, since they have already made the payment to the entity of 560 million pesos to reimburse the months of pending rent .

They explain that “at the end of last year, the current administration reached an agreement with the State Defense Council (SDC), an entity which acted on behalf of the BBNN ministry, and he’s been paid $560 million for the existing debt so we don’t currently owe anything ”.

This amount was born after obtaining the administration of the club for five years in 2019, it was impossible for them to pay the rent, since the government forced them to close the place in April 2020 for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were with the club closed for a long time, unable to function, and despite this we were obliged to pay the rent. We repeatedly asked the minister at the time to give us the opportunity to adjust the debt, but he refused to do so. “, they argue.

In turn, Patricio Alfaro, the administrator of the club, explains that in the agreement with the CDE, the delivery date was set for January 15 of this year. However, a few days before that deadline, a letter was sent to the ministry asking that the current administration remain in charge of the club until it is re-tendered. “An official response from the ministry to this request has not yet been received. “, they expose.

Regarding this situation, Patricio Cornejo pointed out that “if the club closes, around 100 people will be unemployed, many of whom have worked with me since I opened the club in 1993. In addition, all the sporting work that is carried out with the community will end.” . In this club, we breathe family, we breathe friendship, we breathe health, we cannot allow that to happen, ”says the extenista.

In return for keeping the club in charge, the ministry was offered a monthly rental amount greater than the expense that keeping the club would mean for the ministry while it was closed.

According to Patricio Alfaro, if the BBNN ministry closed the club, they would have no way of managing it and both the courts and the swimming pool, which require daily care, would deteriorate more and more and would have to be reinvested when it reopens.
