US Open organizers officially allowed tennis players from Russia and Belarus to participate in the tournament

Representatives of the aggressor countries will play under a neutral flag

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced that tennis players from Russia and Belarus eligible to participate in the upcoming US Open 2022 in neutral status.

“We recognize that every organization has to deal with unique circumstances that affect their decisions. Based on our own circumstances, the USTA will allow all players eligible to compete in the 2022 US Open, regardless of their nationality, to compete,” the USTA said in a statement.

The US Open will take place from August 29 to September 11. The current US Open champions are Daniil Medvedev and Emma Radukanu.

Earlier, the organizers of Wimbledon did not allow representatives of the aggressor countries to participate in the tournament. Due to the non-admission to competitions of Russian and Belarusian athletes, ATP, WTA and ITF will not award rating points for performances at the Grand Slam tournament.
