Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova announced that she would miss the grass season due to the lack of special invitations (wild card) to participate in tournaments.
“I want to announce that I will be skipping the grass season this year. Unfortunately, after nine months of absence, I am unable to participate in some ranked tournaments, and I have not received a wild card to participate in the tournaments.
Moreover, I have already used my two protected notes – at the Australian Open and at Roland Garros. This means that I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon. It’s a big disappointment, but in July I will focus on clay court tournaments and prepare for the rest of the season. I hope to play at the US Open. See you soon,” Pavlyuchenkova wrote on the social network.
Pavlyuchenkova is ranked 94th in the WTA rankings, the 31-year-old tennis player finished last season earlier than expected due to injury. At Roland Garros, Pavlyuchenkova reached the quarter-finals, where she lost to Czech Republic representative Karolina Muchova.
