Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov on a social network spoke about the nature of the damage that will prevent him from playing at Wimbledon this season.
The fact that the Russian will miss the tournament became known the day before – his name disappeared from the list of applications.
– It’s not an easy statement, but I have to announce that I will not be playing at the next Wimbledon. Due to an injury suffered at Roland-Garros (a stress fracture and a crack in the sacrum), I will not be able to play my second Wimbledon tournament in a row. The decision to retire was not easy to make and I hoped until the end to be able to recover. However, my medical staff assured me that this was not possible in this case.
As difficult as it is, I will now focus on healing and returning to tournaments in August. Nevertheless, I am happy that my family is supporting me, and I am also happy to be able to be present at the birth of my second son, who we are expecting very soon,” Khachanov wrote.
In the main draw of the tournament, the Russian will be replaced by the Argentinian Francisco Cherundolo . Wimbledon matches will be played July 3-16.
